Squeak: Learning to Program for Kids 11-15 (up)

Ben Cooper, principal sicentist at the Hawthorne Center for Innovation, has been teaching Squeak to a group of kids for the past 3 years.

Now the Center is offering a oppportunity for a new batch of kids aged 11 to 15 (and up) to get training. The kids will participate in a project whereby they will be taught the open-source and free programming language Squeak (originally written with kids in mind) and then will get to practice their new skill-set by contributing to the creation of a curriculum for painlessly learning Geometry and Algebra that the Center is developing.

When: Fridays from 10:00 a.m. - noon [starting next week Friday, 26 June]
Duration: On-going (come on a "when-you-can" basis)
Cost: FREE
